Apple TV to be Officially Available in the Philippines
I’ve been an Apple TV fan since owning the 2nd generation unit. It’s small, and does the job of accessing iTunes content on my PC very well. The ability to stream Video, Music, and Photos from my iPhone to the HD TV via Airplay has become household function. Adding Apple TV to my entertainment system makes digital content consumption stupidly simple. I was able to place the unit at the back of the TV for a more minimal setup, and still able use the infrared remote.
The only problem other than the lack of dedicated reset button is the warranty, I cannot ask Apple to repair broken Apple TV since it’s not officially available in the Philippines. Luckily, the 2nd Gen ATV is solid as a brick, it never ever failed, and it seems to get even better with every software
update. Also, having an Apple TV gives extra bragging rights, because it’s not available at any retailers yet. That seems to be over pretty soon though as it appears that Apple TV is going to be officially available in the Philippines any time. If you look at the Apple Online Store Philippines (link), you’ll notice the Apple TV photo to the right
of the iPod Classic. There’s no actual price indicated, and it returns a “page not found” when clicked. Two things here, it’s possible that the Apple TV is going to be available pretty soon, or the inclusion of the device is due to an error.
If you can’t wait for the Official Apple TV release, you can scour ebay.ph and other Philippine based online store, just do a google search. I found one that sells for more than 8,000 pesos, which I think is a rip off considering that the US price is just $100. Let’s just hope that Apple’s “Hobby” device that’s already outselling the Xbox, will be available locally.

Good news! Apple now officially sells Apple TV in the Philippines for $4,499.00 each!
Bad news! Ebay sellers who are cashing out from the US exclusivity of the Apple TV have no choice but to sell them at a lower price!
