Tips on iPhone 3G’s Friday Launch
Apple’s iPhone 3G debut is almost here, are you ready? some may say yes but some is still in the dark, so for those of you who still have questions, we are here to shed some light and give you some tips when friday comes, actually its not us who will give you the answers, its Apple, we’re just here to relay some info. 
Getting an iPhone used to be easy, Just show up early, stand in line, buy your phone, and head on home to activate it at your leisure. But getting a new iPhone 3G is a bit more complicated than that, gone are the days where you can just walk into the store, buy your iPhone and activate it whenever you want, the iPhone 3G requires activation at the store on the time of purchase.
Luckily, Apple sent emails to guide their costumers on what to expect. The email also includes links to a webpage describing how in-store activation will work. The webpage reads
“When you arrive, a Concierge in an orange shirt will direct you to the iPhone bay where you can take advantage of our free Personal Setup. A Specialist will help you choose an iPhone 3G, review coverage maps, select a rate plan, and — best of all — have your new iPhone 3G ready to make calls, browse the web, and receive email right on the spot.”
The webpage also tells us what to bring on friday. In order to purchase and activate your iPhone 3G, you will need (U.S. Stores):
- Credit card
- Social security number
- Valid, government-issued photo ID
- Your current wireless account number and password or PIN (if you’re new to AT&T)
Apple reminds users to sync their existing iPhones before coming into the store and that sales start at 8:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. Stock will be replenished daily and Apple will offer a daily online status check of inventory after the launch.
And there is also an important reminder for customers with corporate accounts need to contact AT&T directly. Apple also advises customers who want the iPhone 3G to access a business e-mail account to check with their IT manager before buying the phone.
