iTunes 9: Social Media Integration and Blu-ray Playback
Rumors of iTunes 9 coming this September is everywhere and it looks promising.
According to Boy Genius Report (link) iTunes 9 will support Blu-ray Movie Playback to coincide with the release of Blu-ray enabled super drive on the next iMacs. This will make my 1 year old iMac worth less.
iTunes 9 will also catch up with Zune’s Social and will feature Social Media Integration, hopefully implemented better than what Microsoft done on their Zunes. Tobias Bischoff (link) got pictures of the new iTunes 9 interface, the pictures look authentic, you’ll notice from the first photo that there’s a menu bar at the top which indicates that it’s running on a PC.

IMO iTunes sales will increase sales upon the release of these social feature. Users will share playlist to lastFM and or Facebook, and if someone interested selects a particular song that user will be then be sent to iTunes and have an option to buy that song. Adding twitter built in to itunes will have the same effect. Question is will this benefit us end users?
