Hack/Modify/Tweak your Mac with Secrets
Just like windows Macs have secrets too!, Secret setting which they do not want you to change, these settings are not on the systems preferences, you need to run specific terminal commands to enable/disable these settings.
However there’s a System Preferences Add on to do just that, so you don’t have to memorize all terminal command. Introducing “Secrets ” by BlackTree software.
To Install secrets first you need to download the installer here which only works on OS 10.5. Once you download the zip file it should be on your downloads folder double click to unzip and double click “Secrets.prefPane”. You will be notified that Secrets is a beta software and you can make your Mac malfunction if not properly used. So use this at your own risk, don’t say i didn’t warned you so.
Most people refer to these setting as Hacks, I remember some kid in youtube showing how to hack your mac with several terminal command. He have a long list of terminal commands which have same effects as secrets. Now you don’t need to have the list anymore.
Here’s a list of my favorite useful hacks you can do with Secrets.
- Changing file type for screen capture.
- Login window desktop picture
- Show/Hide hidden files.
- Enable HighDef in frontrow movie trailers.
