Apple Acknowledges Security Flaw Promises Fix in Next Update
Apple has already confirmed the security flaw that would allow unauthorized access to a locked iPhone that has been floating around in the past few days. The vulnerability allows individuals to easily bypass the built-in passcode protection offered by Apple to lock your iPhone. This flaw gives unauthorized individuals full access to your cellphone private information in Mail, SMS, Contacts, and even Safari.
According to MacWorld, Apple promised that a fix will be available this September. In the meanwhile, users are being told to set their double-tap preferences to direct to the home screen rather than favorites. This will prevent the flaw from being exploitable.
“The minor iPhone security issue which surfaced this week is fixed in a software update which will be released in September,” Apple representative, Jennifer Bowcock, said in an email to Macworld.
Minor? this is a minor security issue? I didn’t know that having a unauthorized person have full access to your private information. These kind of things should never be treated as a minor security issue. Good thing that Apple has already addressed the issue. I just hope that the coming update will not only solve this security flaw but also some of the other iPhone problems that users are having like App crashing and 3G connectivity issues.
