Apple upgrades the iMac, Macbook and the Mac Mini

Apple replaced the Mighty Mouse with the new Magic Mouse and yes they also updated three of the Mac Brothers: The iMac, Macbook and the Mini.

Prettier, Faster, Better iMac

The New iMac is now avaialble in 21.5 inch and 27 inch displays, and now have a higher resolution 1920 x 1080 and 1560 x 1440 respectively giving you more space to work on and a better movie watching experience. It also includes IPS (in-plane switching) technology enabling you to see everything on the screen perfectly on any angle (178 degrees).

Aesthetically it looks beautiful. The front glass is now edge to edge, the back is now aluminum (i will surely not miss the mat black back on the previous iMac) and the iChin has been chiseled a bit. It also promises to deliver louder, better bass and clearer sounds with its new speakers (hallelujah!). If you think it’s just the design they also upgrades the internals. And oh did I say they removed firewire 400 and replaced it with another USB port giving the new iMac a total of four USB ports.

With the latest iMac you can have the option to have quad-core Intel i5 or i7 “Nehalem” processor, upto 16 GB of RAM and up to a whopping 2 Terabytes of Hard Disk space. It also upgrades graphic department, the 21.5 inch now have an NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M, with an option to upgrade to ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256 GDDR RAM while the 27 incher is now have ATI Radeon HD 4670 by default with an option to upgrade to ATI Radeon HD 4850 with 512 GDDR RAM, finally an all-in-one Mac gaming machine.

Oh well.. This new iMac will definitely make my 1 year old iMac’s value depreciate.

The New Unibody Macbook

Finally the Macbook (the baseline Apple Notebook) is now given the attention it desrves, the new Macbook is now in a unibody polycarbonate enclosure which according to Apple will make it tougher anf lighter. It’s screen is now LED-backit, and features a big multi-touch trackpad also like it’s bigger brother the Mac Book Pro it now lives up to 7 hours on a single charge.

Performance wise it’s also faster, thankts to it’s NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Graphic Processor, upto 4GB RAM and upto 500GB hard disk.

Faster, Mightier Mac Mini

The Mac Mini is also updated with options for upto 4GB RAM, and 2.26 GHz or 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors, with fast 1066 MHz front side bus and 3MB L2 Cache. Graphics wise it now have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor. With the new Mac Mini and it’s two display ports, the Mini DVI port and Mini Display port you can use two monitors. Also there’s a server Mac Mini version that have two 500GB hard drives instead of a built-in superdrive.

I really don’t know why Apple did not include built-in blu-ray drive, perhaps they didn’t believe in blu-ray OR they don’t want to threaten and enter the Blu-ray market.
