Make your Apple TV do more with aTV Flash
If you want your iTunes content on your HD TV the best option is to use Apple TV, of course you can buy a Mac Mini and hook it up but the Mini doesn’t have HDMI and the Apple TV does.
Luckily firecore LLC created a software that will make your Apple TV do more. Obviously the Apple TV is a trimmed down Mac Mini and some developers have already created patches and hacks, but the problem with hacking is that you need to do the same procedure every time Apple updates the aTV. With Firecore aTV flash you don’t need to hack you just install it.
Here’s as list of what you can do with aTV Flash
- Enables your Apple TV to play more media formats like AVI, DivX, Xvid, FLV, WMV, RM, RMVB and more.
- Expand Capacity of the Apple TV just by attaching an external USB hard drive.
- Run more Applications like firefox, skype and even EyeTV
- complete list here
To install the aTV Flash to your Apple TV you need an Apple TV running on software version 3.0 or higher, a Mac running on OS X 10.4.9 or later, 300MB of available disk space, a USB flash disck with capacity of 256 MB or more, and an internet connection.
aTV Flash is now fully compatible with the latest 3.0.1 Apple TV and is available now for $49.95 US with 1 year free software updates, but you can add $10 for 2 years updates, $20 3 years or $30 for lifetime update. If you’re interested with aTV flash I would suggest that you purchase the lifetime update at a total cost of $79.95, this way you can update your aTV with the latest version of aTV Flash every time Apple update the Apple TV’s software.
aTV Flash Reviews and User Feedbacks
Dragonsteelmods rated the ATV flash a score of 4.5 out of 5 stated that:
ATV Flash is a great tool for those who want to hack their Apple TV without getting their hands dirty. It is a true plug and play solution. The best part about it is that it can be easily removed at any time and does not void your warranty. Plus Apple Core LLC offers one year support and free updates.
Of course, it does cost money and the user can install most all of the features if they take the time and energy to research them. For the person who does not want to spend a lot of time in hacking Apple TV, then ATV Flash is the perfect solution.

A little box that holds a few terrabytes of data, and is fully redundant- so you dont have to worry about losing your collection. Maybe I wanna rip my DVDs to a NAS and watch them on my tv. Maybe my CDs. Who knows, maybe even pay apple or Micro$oft for a season of 24.
