BassJump Portable Subwoofer is Mac Perfect
From the maker of the BookArc, Twelve South a Mac only company (creates product exclusively for the Mac platform) just introduced the BassJump portable subwoofer made specially for Macbook.
The BassJump is designed to improve the sound quality from your Macbook by producing mid and low frequencies. It includes a software which combines the sound from the Macbook and the rich bass from the bassjump to produce better listening experience. The software adds BassJump preferences window which let’s you customize the sound to rock, pop, R&B or more (iTunes can handle that already).
As of now it’s still hard to say if it’s that good however the design and concept really make this external subwoofer attractive to Macbook users. Its sweet minimalist design is a big seeling factor, you only need one usb cable, and since it’s powered through USB no need for extra power cables making your desk free from clutter.
Priced at around $80 you can add more to get a full speaker system, but I haven’t seen a USB powered speaker than can match the BassJump’s design. The package includes the Bassjump unit, a USB cable and a travel case and the software can be downloaded here. Being a Mac Head, I’ll buy this thing ASAP but I’m on an iMac and it doesnt say on it’s product page that it will run on an iMac. Perhaps the bass it produce cannot surpass the ones coming from the iMac.
