The Zemno Notebook Dock Extends Everything on the Macbook Pro

deskbook pro photoThe Deskbook Pro Notebook Dock by Zemno which was announced earlier is now accepting international orders. But how does the Zemno dock “Stands out” to it’s competitor? (Is there really a competitor to this one?)

This Nobtebook Stand is the first portable docking station that have slots for switchable batteries, hard drive and peripherals. Zemno call this ModBay technology, meaning you can extend your Macbooks battery life using a battery modbay (bMod), or add additional storage with a 500GB hard disk modbay (aMod), or even dock an iPhone or iPod internally with a (iMod) modbay. You can add two modbay at a time and mix them up depending on your need. The modbays are sold separately.

pheriperal location deskbook proAside from the revolutionary modays the Deskbook Pro also adds 7 USB ports, 3 firewire 800, 1 firewire 400, 1 DVI out, 1 Audio line in 1/8″, 1 Audio line out 1/8″, 1 eSATA Power port. 1 eSATA Data Port and 1 Ethernet port to your workstation. With these expansions you don’t need to plug and unplug all your accessories every time you need them. A Superspeed USB 3.0 could have been handy.

The Deskbook Pro Stand features an all-aluminum enclosure that matches the Macbook Pro but should also compliment other notebooks. It connect to your notebook with a Firewire 800 and a USB port simultaneously.

Now put a Powermat support for wireless laptop charging and wireless USB or Wi-Fi for data transfer then this could be the ultimate docking station and would perhaps make this thing soooo expensive.

Right now the Zemno DeskBook Pro (DBPRO-01A) is available for $500 USD while the Storage Module (SMod-500HD) and Battery Module (BMod-100) can be bough for $130 USD and $100 USD respectively. Early adopters who orders before December 25, 2009 get a 10% discount. I think I’ll wait for the USB 3.0 version.
