Control Your TV with the L5 Infrared Transmitter for the iPhone
Do you remember the RedEye Wi-Fi to Infrared transmitter which connects to your iPhone via Wi-Fi and control your TV or any infrared appliance? Well the L5 Remote for the iPod Touch and the iPhone works in a straight forward manner. You just connect it to your iPhone and the included free app will enable you to turn your iPhone to a universal remote. The Infrared dongle doesn’t need batteries it sucks juice from your iPhone so expect your iPhone drain battery a bit faster.
The L5 costs $50 a lot cheaper compared to the RedEye, and you don’t need wi-fi in your area to use it which means you can use it everywhere. One scenario is when you’re on a hurry to get home to watch your favorite animated series but is traffic as hell, but theres a TV store nearby, thankfully you have the L5 Infrared Transmitter with you, you can just change the channel on that stores TV and forget about traffic.
This transmitter weights 4 gram and can transmit infrared signals up to 30 feet, but you still need to get as close as 1 foot for the learning process. I just hope that there’s a database of brand and appliances built-in and it can store remote control settings so you don’t need to put in in learning mode otherwise I’ll stick with RedEye.
