Scavenger Hunt forces Apple to Admit the Apple Tablet’s Existence

Last January 4, John Paczkowski of AllthingsD reported that Apple is indeed preparing for a media event that will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco this January 27, 2010 and Apple will announce a New Product. What could this be? Could it be that Apple will be announcing details about the iPhone 4 or will they finally reveal the Apple Tablet aka iTablet.

That report makes people believe that Apple will finally introduce the Apple Tablet. Being sick of rumors Valleywag announced an Apple Tablet Scavenger Hunt, giving upto $100,000 to anyone who can provide evidence of an Apple Tablet. The Scavenger Hunt for Apple Tablet reached Apple Inc. and issued a Cease and Desist Letter to Gawker Media (The guys behind Valleywag)  thus confirming that an Apple Tablet really does exist.

.. Apple demands that Gawker Media immediately discontinue this program and retract the offer to pay for photos, video or samples of Apple’s unannounced product. We further demand that if you receive confidential Apple material, you immediately inorm Apple and refrain from publishing them or otherwise using or disseminating them.. If you decline to agree to these steps by 6:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2010, Apple reserves the right to seek any and all remedies against you, your company, and anyone who makes an illegal submission to you in response to the offer..

Gawker did not retract the offer and advices Scavenger Hunters to avoid doing illegal things to get any evidence and use anonymous mail when sending pictures or videos to Gawker.
