How to Download and Install Fonts on a Mac
The one of the first skill that a graphic designer should learn right after the big switch is Adding Fonts to your Macs Font Library. It not that difficult, you just need to follow these simple steps.
- If you don’t know where to download font go to dafont.com, they have huge database of fonts free to use (not the usual font site which forces to spend)
- You can browse by categories and style, once you selected the font click the download button, once downloaded unzip the downloaded zip file. It should be on your “Downloads Folder”. Double click it and your Mac will unzip and save it on the same folder where you saved the downloaded zip file.
- If you run on Leopard, press spacebar to preview the font and if you like it you can double click the TTF file to open it with font book and an intall font dialogue box will appear.

- Now hit install to install the font. Fontbook will open and there’s the font installed, here’s a tip make sure to copy the font you want to keep on a folder which you want to keep and organize it there. Font book will refer to that folder location forever.

Enjoy!
