Solar Powered, Gesture Controlled iPod: Apple’s Next Innovation
One good thing about Apple is that they are consistent in protecting the environment, and since iPod have the highest consumer share, making iPods get power from renewable source (ie the sun) would give huge impact in energy conservation.
Soon you won’t be needing Solar Chargers. According to a patent awarded to Apple last week, the future iPod will be Solar powered and it will work together with the built in battery. The Patent describes that the solar cells will be covering the entire iPod and will still work even if its partly covered by your hand.
Another great innovation that will come to iPod is gesture control, yes the multi-touch is awesome but gesture is awesome-er. This gesture-based input device, will detect gestures like scooping motion or brushing which is measured by measuring force and velocity aside from the simple swipes and other gestures already available on the iPod Touch.
If Apple put gesture control on the iPod, the circular touch sensivtive control and buttons will be obsolete and will be replaced by a circular pressure sensitive touch pad. Now imaging forwarding songs by swiping to the right, swiping to the left is moving back, swiping down is pause, swiping up is play. Controls like touching the pad and scooping your finger to the right or left will playforward or playbackwards, imagine the possibilities.
