Opera Mini 5 Coming to The iPhone?

Yep, that’s the big question. Athough Opera claims that they will exhibit Opera Mini 5 for the iPhone later this February at MWC (Mobile World Congress), question is “How could they possibly get the Opera App approved by Apple?” Since the App Store Policy states that Apps submitted cannot clone or duplicate functions of the built-in apps, which in Opera’s case Safari. Could Apple change policy soon – are we seing Firefox, and Thunderbird for the iPhone pretty soon?, or could the Opera Mini for the iPhone be only available on Jailbroken Phones via Cydia?

Opera Mini’s advantage of the default web browser could be speed – via server based compression, tabs and speed dial thumbnails – kinda like the desktop Safari’s Top Sites but features Bookmarks. The App will not available through the App Store, but Opera claims that journalist could try at the Mobile World Congress is due this February 5 and will run till the 18th in Barcelona Spain.
