Apple Profits As Much As $270 on a $500 iPad
According to a virtual component breakdown conducted by iSupli, the basic $500 iPad could only cost $229.35 to built. While the 32GB, 3G wireless version only costs $58 more and sells at $729 making it the most profitable iPad. The indicated production cost however doesn’t include other expenses such like marketing, research, labor, and logistic. (Check out the production cost chart after the cut)
So this could be the reason why Apple could consider dropping the price of the iPad if the initial sales doesn’t met their exception. Does this mean boycotting the iPad initially could really make it cheaper?
