Upcoming MacBook Pro to have NVIDIA Optimus Technology
Like most Mac users patiently waiting for the next MacBook Pros, you must be really disappointed to learn that there’s no new MacBookPros announced at the 2010 Macworld Expo held last week not even after Apple Store’s temporary down time, After-all Apple did not attend the event and it’s unlikely that they will release a new product on an event that they do not believe to be significant. After the Expo, rumors about the upcoming MacBook Pros just wont die.
Apple Insider divulged information that the upcoming MacBook Pros will have NVIDIA’s Optimus Technology. This technology will allow the MacBook Pro to use two graphics processors and switch between them in a smooth manner. With the current MacBook Pro you need to manually set which graphic processor to use and log out to change between the processors which is quite laborious and time consuming. NVIDIA Optimus technology discard that process and it automatically choose which processor is best for the task, it will use the built-in video card if workin on wordpress, word processing or doing other simple task like email and reading, AND whenever you switch to gaming or watching movie the faster discreet graphics is automatically activated for better performance. With this technology the upcoming MacBook Pros will be more power efficient resulting to longer battery life and better productivity.
So far the NVIDIA Optimus only works on windows machine, but soon I’m pretty sure that we’ll see this thing built-in to out MacBook Pros. We just need to wait, wait and wait.
