Twitter buys Tweetie, Tweetie renamed to Twitter Makes it a Free iPhone App

The lack of Official twitter iPhone app sucks because you need to pay $2.99 to use Tweetie, not anymore! Twitter just bought Tweetie, renamed to Twitter for the iPhone and become totally free. Loren the creator of tweetie is now an official member of the Twitter Mobile Team, and will work hand in hand to come up with Twitter for the iPad.

As we work to provide the best possible Twitter experience on all of the major mobile platforms, momentum will increase dramatically. Millions more active, engaged, mobile users means more opportunities for all of us. Developers, services, and publishers will be able to leverage the Twitter iPhone and iPad applications to create additional innovative tools and integrations for users.
