Apple’s Letter to Gizmodo Confirms the Leaked iPhone HD the next iPhone
Bruce Sewell – Senior VP and General Counsel of Apple Inc. sent an email to Gizmodo/Gawker asking them to return the lost iPhone HD to Apple. The was addressed to Mr. Lam.
It has come to our attention that GIZMODO is currently in possession of a device that belongs to Apple. This letter constitures a formal request that you return the device to Apple. Please let me know where to pick up the unit.
According to California states law,” If it is lost, the owner has three years to reclaim or title passes to the owner of the premises where the property was found”. Since it would be illegal not to send back the unit to Apple, Gizmodo replied with the following email.
Happy to have you pick this thing up. Was burning a hole in our pockets. Just so you know, we didn’t know this was stolen when we bought it. Now that we definitely know it’s not some knockoff, and it really is Apple’s, I’m happy to see it returned to its rightful owner.
This letter by Apple confirms that the iPhone lost by Grey Powell is the next iPhone, although the email didn’t exactly mention it directly.
According to reports, Gizmodo spend $5k to $10k to have the iPhone HD in their hands. And since they have no choice but to return it, all that money come to waste or let’s think of it as a one week rental fee for the iPhone HD.
