Patent Reveals Touch Screen Coming to iMacs
Touching is the best way to manipulate things, you can even manipulate someone just by touching her into submission. Music players and phones have all gone touchscreen (iPod and iPhones) and soon you will be able to manipulate your iMac or Mabook by just touching. A patent application published by US Patent & trademark office with number “20100100947“ entitled “Scheme for Authenticating Without Password Exchange” reveals a flowchart showing a touchscreen which is possibly associated with the iMacs and Macbooks.
The Flowchart above illustrates a component of “processor 220″ named “bridge 235″ includes data input device such as keyboard, microphone, mouse, and touch.
I believe the Mac UI is ready for touch input. With phones and media player getting touch enabled, people are getting used to touch input and it’s just logical that the iMac should have touch screen too. Although touch is the way to go, I hope that Apple will implement touch screen as “optional”, where buyers can choose to have their iMac with touch screen or not.
