Australian Restaurant Uses an iPad instead of Paper Menus
While Japanese Doctors conducts surgery with an aide of an iPad, Syndney based Restaurant Global Mundo Tapas in the North Sydney Rydges Hotel stopped using paper menus and used a $500 iPad instead.
The Australian Restaurant uses a custom App which allows customers to view menus, read dishes along with tasting notes, and see photos of the dish. The App put the dish together and the order is sent to the kitchen via WiFi. Diners with the help of the app can specify how they want their meals or if they want a side dish with it, it even suggest the best wine to go with a certain dish.
According to Craig Simpson – Rydges area general manager:
We have something that presents really well, sells our food really well and is absolutely dynamic
The Virtual Menu also keeps track of stock level of the food and removes it from the list accordingly and it will soon offer dishes based o n Diner’s mood and the current weather. Sounds fantastic eh? I bet soon we’ll see an iPad built-in to McDonald’s dine-in tables.
