How to Delete Your iTunes Account Credit Card Information

Reports of iTunes Accounts and App Store have been hacked is really alarming, the only way to prevent your iTunes Account from being hacked is to delete or reset your credit card information. Don’t know how to delete your card information? Just follow these simple steps.

  1. Open iTunes and select iTune Store on the left pane.
  2. On the navigation bar, click on “Sign in”.
  3. After logging in click on the arrow right beside your email address, and select “Account”.
  4. Click on the “Edit Payment Information Button”.
  5. You can now set the Credit Card option to “None”.
  6. Click “Done” and the Payment Information box should show “No credit card on file”.

Your account information page should look just like the photo shown earlier in this tutorial. Just click to see full size screen shot.

      yes.. you simply choose “none” as payment type inside payment information menu.

    Is it true that if I “none” my credit card, my son will no longer be able to use the apps he already owns?

      that’s not true.. you will still be able to use all the apps you already bought even if you change the payment info to “none”

    I had a debit card in itunes it expired so I decided to not use another credit card and just buy a gift card. I was able to add the gift card and it shows the amount available but when I go to purchase it redirects me back to the cc information. UGGH

    make sure that you still have enough credit on your credit card, and your CC is issued on the same iTunes Store country.

    You can only access iTunes US if your CC is issued in the US, same with Philippines, and Indonesia.

    I deleted my credit card info from my sons itunes account so he only uses a gift card, however if he goes over his gift card it then takes out the balance from my credit card, how is this possible when I’ve gone in and told the itunes account to use none?

    so i made an account and then i put my debit card in it. and now it is telling me that the security code is wrong and it wont just let me put none. please help. i have over like 20 updates :sad:

      Try to delete the entire credit card info and do it again..

    this was helpful. at first, i was so worried that if i put my credit card information, somebody might get hold of it and use it for fraud. my question now is, if i have successfully edited my mode of payment to “none”, will that be safe? will apple not bill me anymore?

      @Charina de goma, yes that’s correct.. you can’t buy anything unless you put in another payment method.
