Psystar now offers Mac Clones with Blu-ray and NVIDIA 9800GT graphics cards

I’m sure that by now you are already familiar with a company making Mac Clones called Psystar. They even have an ongoing case against Apple, and that is not stopping the Mac Clone makers from offering new products without Apple’s approval.

Psystar is now offering “Mac OS X-compatible PCs” with Blu-ray drives as well as NVIDIA 9800GT graphics cards. They say that they introducing these technologies into Mac-compatible computers long before Apple has done so in its own machines.

If you can recall, Jobs recently referred to Blu-ray as a “bag of hurt” because of licensing costs, which is one of the reasons why a Blu-ray drive has not been integrated into a Mac Computers so far. Apple also said that they aren’t ready to burden its users with a technology that may or may not be sticking around. “Blu-ray has already won the format war. Not only is there fully functional and mature support for Blu-ray in other operating systems but you can now rent Blu-ray discs from almost any rental chain,” a disagreeing Psystar president Rudy Pedraza said in a statement. “Blu-ray has become pervasive technology that is being widely adopted by consumers everywhere.” [Ars Technica]
