Speakercraft Releases Audiophile Quality iPad Speakers

Speakercraft - known for high-end architectural speaker just announced three iPad compatible speakers, the BoxFlo, BoxFlo Mini and the Vital 250. The FloBox and FloBox Mini features slick industrial design characterized its glossy piano finish and elevated box design with a speaker grille that slides down to reveal the controls. Both features a dock at the top with a back support for the iPad, USB inputs and FM tuners while the bigger unit comes with a CD drive. The mini comes with two 3-inch woofers and 3/4 inch while its big brother boasts two larger 3 1/2 inch medium speakers, two 3/4 dome twitters and a hughe 5 1/4 inch subwoofer.

The more expensive Vital 250 justifies the $699 pricetag with its Airplay, DNLA, Nirv Connectivity and various input and output connectivity such as aux-in, sub out, line-out, and composite video out. It also up-converts compressed MP3 files for better sound quality. It also comes in a smaller form factor making it an ideal bedside and desktop companion.

Speakercraft’s new line of iPad compatible speakers comes in red, black, yellow, white, and silver. The FloBox costs $999 while the smaller FloBox Mini is cheaper at $399. One interesting characteristic of the larger FloBox is that it seems that the LCD colour matches the colour of the speaker which looks really cool. They should have drop that CD player and placed a multi-card reader that reads various music files.

    Am I the only one who thinks, that 999$ for iPad speakers is way too much? You could buy a speaker system for $999, buy few cables to connect it to your iPad. That way you will have better quality system for same money.
