Globe Telecom Offers Postpaid iPads in the Philippines
While looking for a Samsung Galaxy tab plans at Globe Center in Greenbelt Area, Philippines, Philmug member leninmac discovered that the local telecom is now offering postpaid iPad plans. The 16gb wifi is free at plan 2499, yes you’re not reading it wrong, the carrier offers a plan for a wi-fi only model, but they will be giving subscriber a simcard that can be used in any mobile phone. 16gb 3G+wi-fi is free at plan 3799 with two sims, one that can be used for browsing and one for calls and text.
The offer is only available on selected Globe Wireless Center. I was able to talk to a Globe CSR and according to the customer representative both plans comes with 24 month lock-in period. If that’s the case, iPad 16gb wi-fi only users will be spending a total of Php 36,oo and 16gb Wi-Fi +3G users will shed off Php 67,200 (both with unlimited internet). This is a great move for the official iPhone carrier , but the pricing is a bit hefty. You can a 16gb iPad at an authorized Apple distributor for Php 31,000 and avail of a Globe Tattoo postpaid plan for Php 999 which will only cost a total of Php 51,000, you save over Php 16,00o. The 16GB Wi-Fi only at 2499 is a ripoff since there is no unlimited internet and you pay 1,500 a month for voice and sms.
