Prevent Disconnection During Wi-Fi Online Game on iOS device

Staying connected during an online game is vital specially during multi-player battle and match-ups. Some player purportedly disconnect during a battle to prevent the defeat, but on some games using this technique

may get you penalized or worst get banned from the game. The problem with the current version of iOS is that games are automatically paused upon popping up notifications thus disconnecting you from the game. Here’s how to prevent yourself from being disconnected while playing online.

  • Make sure to have sufficient bandwidth, 1Mb/s is a nice start.
  • If you have a slow internet connection, make sure no application on any network computer is eating up the bandwidth.  Closing torrent apps, browser, or any program on networked computers that may be used to download files is a good idea.
  • You must disable notifications on your iOS device. Bring up “Settings”, then switch “off” notifications if it’s turned “on”.
  • Getting SMS, and phone calls may also pause the game. To prevent this, set your iPhone to Airplane mode, then turn wi-fi “on” and connect to a network.
Doing the last step, will turn your cellular network while allowing you to connect to a wi-fi network.  Just make sure you’re not expecting any calls.
The new notifications system coming to iOS 5 promises to prevent games from being paused, for now the methods listed above is a good remedy.
