Two New Macbook Inspired Mobile Hard Drives from WD
Western Digital – the leader in portable and desktop hard drive recently released two new mobile hard drive pre-formatted for Mac.
Although the name isn’t exactly new, the My Passport and My Passport Studio looks totally different. The regular My Passport for Mac design is similar to that of the Macbook Air, while the beefier Studio version matches the Macbook Pros with its anodized aluminum body. Both drives are available in 1TB, 750GB and 500GB capacities, features USB 2 interface, however, the Studio comes with two Firewire 800 ports in addition to the USB 2 slot. Perfect for professionals who need faster data transfer.
Slim and small, these drives may look similar in size. However, if you look closer at the specs sheet, the 500gb My Passport (WDBL1D5000ABK) is the slimmest at 15mm x 82.1mm x 110.6mm, while the 750gb and 1tb variants is a bit thicker at 19mm x 82.3mm x 110.8mm. This is also similar with the Studio
My Passsports. The 500gb with smaller hard drive measures 19mm x 84mm x 126mm, while the bigger capacities is 3mm thicker.
