Swedish developer Mobispine developed a third party application that would allow iPhones to send and receive MMS. Mobispine is marketing their MMS application to mobile carriers (such as AT&T) as a solution to provide the service to their end users.

We’re confident that operators will find the service easy to use and profitable with an opportunity to expand messaging usage, improve subscriber retention and hopefully increase revenue. The service will also increase customer loyalty and recognition as the brand is displayed on the user’s phone. The application is white-labelled and will be branded for each operator and distributed via the App store.

Mobispine also describe their application as:

MMS on iPhone enables easy, convenient and cost-effective communication with colleagues, friends and family. Users can easily create a new MMS and attach a picture from an album on the phone or simply take a new snapshot with the camera. The application is integrated with the iPhone’s contacts for easy access. Some of the key features for end-users include the ability to easily send and receive messages from iPhone to any phone with a native and intuitive user interface. The application also offers the ability to capture a picture via the iPhone camera or the option to select from existing photos.

Their have been apps before that would allow MMS on the iPhone but it looks like tht this one have a direct tie with the carriers which could also mean that carriers will most likely charge an extra fee for MMS messaging. Apple will still have to approve this App to be included in the App Store but with the mobile carrier’s blessing, it seems likely this app would see approval.[MacRumors]

If you remember, a number of people is already complaining about a trackpad issue found on the new MacBook and MacBook Pros. Reports say that the omni-button trackpads on the new MacBooks are glitchy, every 50 or so clicks, the trackpad will stop responding for a few seconds at a time, even to hard clicks. One affected user even emailed Apple CEO Steve Jobs himself where he responded with a short but revealing statement that says “Software fix coming soon”.

Well, the software fix is here, just remember to proceed with caution because some are having issues with the update already. [MacRumors]

Apple enthusiastically claimed ownership to the world’s thinnest notebook earlier this year with the introduction of the MacBook Air, but is rumored to be unsatisfied with the system’s weight, which it now hopes to drop below 3 pounds.

Carbon is a extremely lightweight material that is exceptionally strong. AppleInsider says a pre-production MacBook Air running around looked exactly the same as the current model, but with a black carbon fiber bottom which would bring the Air’s weight down by 100 grams to 2.78 pounds.

AppleInsider also believe that Apple would introduce this new Carbon Fiber MacBook Airs sometime next year.

Filipinos can now buy Mac or iPods directly from Apple Store Philippines.  Filipino Mac Enthusiasts can now order online and have them delivered right at your doorsteps in just a few days.  No need to convert the price to know how much those awesome gadgets from Apple will cost, all prices are already converted in peso.

One thing I notice though, looks like you still cannot order an iPhone 3G directly and the price is higher compared to an Apple Store. Example is that an iPod nano cost $149 in the Apple Store which should be about 7200.00php but in the Apple Store Philippines, it costs 9490.00php almost $50 more. I have no idea about the pricing details, shipping etc. but getting to order directly and having it delivered to the comforts of my home is definitely good news.

Let’s just say we have a hunch on this one.  Sony iTunes Plus high quality AAC files coming to the iTunes store in the next few weeks/months..same deal, 256kbit quality, no DRM.

Apple’s is willing to sell DRM-free music while other major record labels have withheld this ability from the company in an effort to reduce iTunes’ marketshare in digital music downloads. The one who benefits the most appears to be Amazon who is offering DRM-free digital downloads from all four major music studios.

If this rumor is true then Apple could possibly announced this news next year on their Macworld San Francisco event. [9to5mac]

“Right now games don’t introduce the social aspect at all on the iPhone,” Demeter said in a phone interview. “If there is a social aspect it’s an island. If these users are playing Trism, they’re playing Trism; it’s an island. How does that tie into other puzzle games? If players are still connected to a larger whole then they’re more likely to keep playing other games.”

Onxy was created more out of a sense of self-preservation amongst developers than it was keeping it real for people who game on the iPhone. Demeter said that business is slowing down for himself and many other independent coders, as new software continues to clutter the App Store. Thus, many high-quality games don’t get the attention they deserve, and independent developers are going to have a hard time standing out. As the App Store becomes cluttered with hundreds upon hundreds of throwaway games, Demeter told Wired the indie developer is in danger of being muscled out by big companies like Sega, who have the marketing budget to get their titles to the top of the heap.

Demter also claims that Onyx will “save” the App Store. He explained that the social-networking aspect of Onyx would benefit developers, because by connecting the games in one network, the developers would essentially be sharing each other’s customers, leading to growth. [Wired]

There have been rumors before about AT&T and Apple talking abouth tethering plan for the iPhone.

There was also at least two existing tethering options for the iPhone: NetShare and iModem. The former was removed from Apple’s iPhone App Store and the latter only works on jailbroken iPhones which both violate AT&T’s terms of service.

Even if AT&T charges more for the tethering plan, I’m sure that more people will sign up for this, even if the connection on the iPhone is slower, Let’s just hope that AT&T and Apple will do something about the iPhone’s sluggish connection [Technologizer via Gizmodo]
