iPhone Takes Screenshots With Every Home Button Press

If you have an iPhone, it is possible that everything you have done on your iPhone is temporarily stored inside your phone. Apparently, your iPhone takes screenshots of your most recent work after every press of the home button.

That zoomy minimizing effect is achieved every time you press the home button , the system takes a full-screen grab and caches it. In case an unauthorized person gets a hold of your phone or your iPhone gets stolen, you wouldn’t want anybody to take a look at your browsing history now would you?

“This flaw can only be exploited by somebody with physical access to a device, but your phone could get into the hands of someone with more malicious intent,” says Zdiarski. “Obviously, you don’t want to trust any of your data to a passcode.”

They say that the cached images disappear after a few seconds, but Zdziarski demonstrated that if you know what you’re doing,  you can recover the file system and see many, many of these grabs. Gadget Lab reports that Zdziarski said forensics experts have actually used this method to solve serious crimes. You can probably tell that there are only a handful of people like Zdziarski who actually know how to accomplish this, so it’s not like small-time thieves are getting their iPhones scanned regularly.
